Three Cricket Formats and Bangladesh's Favourite Tournaments

A big reason for cricket betting's popularity is its variety. T20, ODI and Test – three different formats mean three different strategies, three different markets and three different experiences.

T20: In this short and fast format, the situation can change with every over. BPL and IPL are the two tournaments that generate the most excitement among Bangladeshi fans. There are many more markets per match, because each over is a small story in itself.

ODI: Fifty-over cricket gives a bit more time for analysis. In tournaments like the T20 World Cup, Asia Cup or any ICC ODI event, markets like top batsman, Man of the Match and total runs are especially popular.

Test: In five-day cricket, a draw is a valid result alongside a win or loss. The markets in this format are naturally different – they are built around questions like which innings will see more wickets fall and which batsman will score a century.

Alongside international matches, you can also bet on football and other sports at tekkabuzz. For the casino gaming experience, visit the tekkabuzz Casino page.

The BPL keeps cricket fans engaged every season. International series featuring the Bangladesh Tigers and major ICC events also feature in tekkabuzz's betting markets.

Football and Other Sports Betting – How It Differs from Cricket

Football is also very popular in Bangladesh alongside cricket. However, the betting structure of the two sports is quite different.

Football has three possible outcomes – win, loss and draw. T20 and ODI cricket generally do not end in a draw, so the match winner market works with only two options (excluding tie or no-result). This means cricket odds work somewhat differently overall.

The goal line (for example, over/under 2.5 goals) is a very common football market, while cricket tends to feature total runs over/under or total wickets markets. Multi bets are available in both sports – multiple events can be combined into one bet.

When betting on other sports like tennis, badminton or basketball, the core rules remain the same. Choosing markets and understanding odds is the key skill.

Popular Cricket Betting Markets – How They Work

Match Winner

A bet on which team will win the match. Example: in a T20 match between Team A and Team B, you pick Team A. If Team A wins, your bet is successful; if not, you lose the bet.

Most Common

Toss Winner

You can predict which team will win the toss before the match begins. This is completely separate from the match result, as the toss winner is not always the match winner.

Pre-Match

Top Batsman

You can bet on which batsman in a given team will score the most runs. The main challenge is predicting which batsman from Team A will finish with the highest score.

Player Prop

Total Runs Over / Under

A specific number is set – for example, total runs of 160. You bet on whether the combined total of both teams will be above or below 160.

Totals Market

Top Wicket-Taker

You can bet on which bowler will take the most wickets. Pace bowler or spinner – depending on pitch conditions, this market can be quite interesting.

Bowler Prop

Multi Bet

Three separate selections across three different matches can be combined into one multi bet. If all of them are correct the return is much higher, but if even one is wrong you lose the entire bet.

High Risk

How to Read and Understand Odds

Betting odds are written in three different formats: Decimal, Fractional and American. All three formats express the same information – only the way they are written differs.

Example 1 – The same odds in three formats: Team A to win, bet ৳1,000. Decimal odds 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125. If you win, total return is ৳2,250 (profit ৳1,250 + original stake ৳1,000). If you lose, the full ৳1,000 is gone.

Example 2 – Favourite's odds: Team B to win, decimal odds 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200. A ৳1,000 bet returns a total of ৳1,500 if you win (profit ৳500). In the American format, a minus sign means how much you need to bet to make ৳100 in profit – here a ৳200 bet earns ৳100 profit.

The decimal format is the easiest because multiplying directly gives the total return. tekkabuzz lets you view and switch between all three formats.

Format Value Return on ৳1,000 bet
Decimal 2.25 ৳2,250
Fractional 5/4 ৳2,250
American +125 ৳2,250
Favourite (Decimal) 1.50 ৳1,500
Favourite (American) -200 ৳1,500

All three formats give the same result – only the presentation differs.

Live In-Play Betting – Odds Shift When Wickets Fall

Odds change with every ball

In live betting, decisions are made based on the pace and situation of the game. You can still place bets after the match has started.

What makes in-play betting different?

The odds set before a match starts are called pre-match odds. But once the game begins, the odds change with every ball, every wicket and every over.

Example: Team A is chasing a target. If three wickets fall in the first five overs, Team A's odds of winning will suddenly increase sharply, while Team B's odds will shorten. On the other hand, if Team A puts together two big partnerships early on, their odds drop and the suspense fades.

Live betting requires a bit more focus because odds change quickly and you have to make decisions within a time limit. The tekkabuzz App lets you track live scores while placing bets.

  • When wickets fall, the chasing team's odds increase
  • When the run rate rises, the fielding team's odds increase
  • The runs-per-over market resets after each over
  • Odds may be temporarily suspended due to rain or other interruptions

Multi Bet – Multiple Matches in One Bet

A multi bet (also known as an Accumulator or Parlay) combines multiple separate events into a single bet. The odds of each selection are multiplied together, so the potential return can be much higher than a single bet.

Example: three selections across three different matches – decimal odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.70. Multiplied together, the combined odds are approximately 3.81. A ৳100 bet returns ৳381 if all selections are correct. But if even one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.

Multi bets carry higher risk, but they also add more entertainment – because one bet gives you a reason to follow several matches at the same time.

Betting is for entertainment only – never treat it as a source of income. To learn more about betting responsibly, read our Responsible Gaming page.

Multi bet slip – three selections

Odds across three matches: 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.70 = approximately 3.81. Potential return on a ৳100 bet is ৳381 – but only if all three selections are correct.

Some Useful Tips Before You Start Betting

Set a budget. Decide in advance how much you are willing to bet. Do not go beyond that limit. Betting is for entertainment – treating it as an income plan creates problems.

Understand the match format. Markets that run in T20 do not apply in Test. Each format has its own market structure.

Focus on one market. Start by betting only on match winner or total runs markets. Betting on many markets at the same time leads to confusion.

Compare odds. Pay attention to how odds change across different markets for the same match. This will improve your ability to read odds.

Take your time with live betting. Odds in live markets change quickly. Rather than betting in a rush, understand the situation first and then decide.

Keep multi bets limited. Multi bets offer the possibility of higher returns, but the risk is also higher. It is better not to combine more than 2–3 selections when starting out.

Cricket Betting FAQ

In T20, fast-moving markets like match winner, total runs over/under and most sixes are more common. ODI has more innings-based markets. In Test, a draw is a separate outcome, so the match winner market has three options.

In in-play betting, odds change quickly and time pressure can lead to rushed decisions, so the risk of hasty choices is higher. That said, betting of any kind is entertainment – in-play betting does not guarantee better returns.

You can generally add anywhere from two to many selections in a single multi bet. The more selections you add, the lower the chance that all of them will be correct. It is best to start with two or three selections to get a feel for it.

If a match is cancelled or left incomplete, the bet is generally treated as void and the staked amount is returned. However, the rules may vary by market, so read the rules before placing a bet. For more details, see the Terms and Conditions.

For most Bangladeshi bettors, decimal odds are the easiest, because multiplying the stake directly gives the total return. For example, a ৳1,000 bet at odds of 2.25 returns a total of ৳2,250.
